Kenzie has her first day as a freshman today. Luckily for her it's only 1/2 day and only the freshman are there. I've been trying to get her back on her school bedtime schedule with no luck so she's going to have to handle the consequences of staying up past 11:00 last night. Bet I find her asleep later today.

Claire started a new daycare yesterday and didn't want to leave when I came to get her. I take that as a good sign. While it's still hard to believe we won't be going to Christy's every day like we have for 10 years... And I have reprogram the auto-pilot on my van; the poor thing is confused. She starts kindergarten tomorrow. Unreal.

Am almost finished with the new costume. Need to press the skirt so it hangs flat and longer. It should have been about 2 inches longer, but it hits the top of my feet so should be okay. Have to cut and dip some boning then finish topstitching the bodice. Flat hat is finished except for deciding which feathers to use and how many (what's the bet way to attach the little buggers? Any advice?), even made a waist bag to match the bodice. Need to match up jewelry and I'm set.

Spoke to our contact for Central Missouri Ren Fest last night and we're a go. Concerned that I've never received anything in the mail from them, but when we speak they assure me we're confirmed and do have reservations at the TraveLodge for Friday night and Saturday night. He also offered to meet up at the grounds or motel Fri night to confirm everything, and told me they will be paying performers Sunday afternoon. So I'm not terribly worried, just cautious. This is a first year fair so we'll see how it goes. I hope the weather holds--I could go for low 90s for a while :-) Will post pictures tonight or tomorrow depending on when it's *done*.

Minor setback with Kenzie this week. She's been doing great about doing the chores I've assigned her. Yesterday she had 4 things to do including change the sheets on her bed and clean the bathroom. Well, she "forgot" to change the sheets and empty the trash. Minor, I know, but she only had *4* things to do all day. Then this morning she calls from school and forgot to take her schedule. Instead of going to the office and asking them to print her one she wants me to bring it to her (granted we live 3 blocks from the school, but still). She just doesn't think sometimes. I'll cut her some slack because of the excitement of school starting, but geez!
